Brixton Academy, London, January 19

IDLES might have filled Brixton Academy for four successive nights to kick off their UK tour, but Joe Talbot isn’t completely happy. “Some people have said that one’s clichéd,” he says after the band have unleashed anthemic mid-set snarler “Television” to a delighted response. “Well, it might be clichéd but it’s brought us together tonight.” Talbot returns to the theme of audience unity and critical disdain a little later in the set, after the rousing “Danny Nedelko” has been received with typical rapture by a crowd who bellow along to every word like it’s the alternative national anthem.
