VOWO SHOW SURVIVAL GUIDE 19-20 MARCH ’22 – SANDOWN PARK, ESHER

It’s happening. After a two-year gap, The VolksWorld Show is set to take place on 19-20 March 2022 at Sandown Park, Esher – and we can’t wait!

The event team has been flat out selecting the best cars and Transporters from all over the country to display at what’s generally considered to be the most prestigious VW gathering on the show calendar, so don’t miss it!

As well as the indoor displays, international swapmeet, children’s play area and the UK’s top trade stands in our Retail Village, of course, there will be all manner of attractions outside, including a display of Buses – old and new – club displays, a dedicated cars ‘for sale’ area and much, much more.

Anyway, to get you in the mood – and as an insight for first-timers – here’s our very own ‘survival guide’ as compiled by some of the show’s most avid fans to help you have the best weekend ever.

Barney Dines, MD, Heritage Parts Centre

Long time VolksWorld Show sponsor and leading VW parts supplier

What year was your first VolksWorld Show, what were your first impressions, any funny stories?

I attended the first ever VolksWorld Show as a customer and have subsequently worked every one since. Becoming headline show sponsor, and certainly being able to bring over the Karmann Ghias and also the W30 Prototype in association with VW Classic Parts has been a massive highlight for us.

Amusing stories? Well, we used to have a live DJ on the stand and were always getting told off for the music being too loud! We’d also hold after show marquee parties in the middle of the racecourse. Invariably I’d then be asked to do an interview for the show video while horrendously hung-over the next day, which wasn’t quite as fun!

Why do you think it’s lasted the test of time, what’s unique about this show?

VolksWorld is one of the only indoor VW shows in the world, and that really sets it apart. It’s been created to exhibit the pinnacle of air-cooled VW builds, and come rain, snow or shine it serves as a Mecca for those wishing to display their handiwork, seek inspiration for their own project or just have a good catch up with mates after a long winter.

Where do you stay?

We’ve stayed in few places over the years; typically we’ll find a comfortable hotel within a few miles of Sandown and stay there Saturday night. Our best accommodation was the now defunct Esher
