“Chelsea taught me almost everything that I know”

What was it like coming through the ranks at Chelsea?

When you’re younger, you don’t really realise how privileged you are. It’s only now that I see it. It’s definitely one of the best academies. On the pitch, and off the pitch, you can see how much time and effort they put into looking after the academy.

Who else was in your age group?

Trevoh Chalobah, Mason Mount, Eddie Nketiah, who’s now at Arsenal. We grew up and went to school together at the academy full time. We just went through the ranks step by step. It’s nice to see that everyone’s taken different paths – maybe one day we’ll all play against each other. Who knows?
