How to size up ferret boxes

I was given a new ferret box for Christmas. Although well built, I think it may be a little small for my four ferrets. What size are your ferret boxes?

A I can remember a time when buying a ferret box was hard work whereas nowadays, especially with the internet, they are in vogue and everywhere.

Unfortunately, if you don’t keep ferrets, you may miss the essential points of what makes not only a good box but the right box. At the end of the day, the health and welfare of the ferrets is the major factor over fashion or convenience.

Any ferret box should be light but sturdy enough to sit on when you are having a cup of tea — and large enough for the ferrets to go to the toilet and airy enough to keep them cool, but not so airy that they get a chill in the winter, or wet when out in the rain.
