NIGHT RIDER

The pillion in a million reckons she never saw the scenery on our many rides on the Black Spur in Victoria. I’d get “in the zone” and her concentration had to match mine. You know how it is; you get tunnel vision and don’t see much else.

Riding at night is a different beast. The blackness pierced by whatever candle power you’ve got, eyes straining to take advantage of that illuminated bit of tarmac. All senses in the rev counter red zone, on the lookout for danger that might be lurking in the blackness. It can be exhilarating, challenging and dangerous. Some like it, some don’t.
