Engineering chaos
Over the Christmas break I was speaking to a number of colleagues. We spoke on many issues, but one theme that kept coming up was the dangers of spec formula. More scarily, how the parts in these formulae, and tools such as data acquisition, were becoming increasingly regulated.
If this continues, we could have a generation of engineers who are fundamentally disconnected from what they are doing so, when they get to the big time, they will be hopelessly out of their depth. This is an abyss we must avoid at all costs, and is what we’ll be discussing in this article.
