JOB COMPLETED!
Now in his 60s and living in California, USA and hoping to downsize to the east coast of America and Virginia in the not too distant future, Dave Anton placed his 1919 Fowler BB1 ploughing engine, unrestored and in pieces, up for sale on Facebook, for just one day courtesy of Emily Burgess’s efforts and persuading. This was in October and within less than an hour of putting the engine up the deal was basically done, with a queue of other people willing to take the project on, if the proposed buyers had second thoughts.
The Anton’s from East Sussex are an interesting family and David and his younger brother Colin served their time at the mighty Reed Paper Mills, Aylesford, Kent. Dave as a general engineering apprentice, while his brother qualified as an instrument engineer and today is a Burgess Engineering employee. Here he works on many types and ages of vehicles, from veterans to the latest machinery.
