The much-missed motoring writer Russell Bulgin supposedly once stated that ‘cars are boring; it’s what you do with them that makes them interesting’. Now, while you’d have to have a heart of granite to find the current Ford GT boring, it’s certainly true that doing a proper road trip in one is a lot more fun than walking around it, chin cupped in hand, and pondering the aesthetics.
So, when car tour organiser Bill Telford got in touch to offer Octane a place on his 2021 Ford GT Tour, taking in some of the best driving roads in Scotland, it wasn’t a hard decision to make. Hell, he’d even throw in a car, courtesy of Ford of Britain, which had kindly offered to make its 2017-registered GT available for the duration. Finished in eye-searing Triple Yellow. This is not a boring car.
