How to propagate your succulents,

Succulents are among the most straightforward of plants to propagate. For a start, because their leaves are minireservoirs, water loss is not a problem as it can be when taking cuttings from many perennials and shrubs.

I found out ‘Zwartkop’ fell over in a storm, breaking several of its branching tree-like stems. Each of the rosettes was severed with an inch or so of its stem, pushed into gritty compost in modules up to its hilt. Not only did they all root but, after a few weeks, the denuded framework of the plant sprung into life making new rosettes on each cut stem and even unattached pieces of broken stem sprouted new rosettes.
