The C-Class initially served as Mercedes-Benz’s entry-level range when introduced, in W202 form, during 1993. That was up until the A-Class came along in 1997. However, two years after the mainstream models made their debut, the high-performance C36 AMG saw the light of day, to counter BMW’s M3. This six-cylinder tuned variant was soon followed by the C43 AMG, with a V8 engine.

Since then, every generation of C-Class has featured AMG versions with varying levels of potency. Our example here is a W205, the fourth series of 2014, which has only recently been superseded during 2021. The car featured an extensive use of aluminium, and despite being regarded as one of the more budget-friendly ways into MB ownership, such was the specification and luxury that the range became known as a mini S-Class.

The W205’s AMG line-up comprised the C450 (with a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6) which was later rechristened the C43, and the C63 (with a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8). It’s the latter 469bhp model we have here; there was also an S variant available
