YUZURU HANYU SLAYS THE COMPETITON IN SAITAMA

He came. He skated. He conquered.

Any doubts about whether Yuzuru Hanyu would be in a position to contest and/or win the All Japan Championships in late December were quickly dispelled after he laid down two outstanding performances, which left his rivals in his wake.

Hanyu was scheduled to compete at two Grand Prix events in the fall — NHK Trophy and Rostelecom Cup — but in early November he announced he had to withdraw from the first competition after suffering a ligament injury to his right ankle in training.
