Seeing my father affectionately squeeze the hand of my mother’s best friend, I was rooted to the spot. Had I imagined that? I watched them interact, fixated. They were sneaking glances and giggling like schoolchildren. It was June 2019, we were having lunch together and, in that moment, I was convinced they were seeing each other.
