I chose it because Elena Ferrante spoke to me. When I first read her, I got a kind of shock. She was saying things that felt so true, things that as a culture we’ve agreed not to talk about. It was disturbing—and comforting. I thought it would be interesting to create a communal experience where you could actually hear these words spoken out
