Atlantic escapes

With spring just around the corner now is the time to plan that much needed escape from the long, cold northern hemisphere winter with a sailing holiday in the sun just a relatively short hop away from the UK.

The North Atlantic groups of islands off the coast of Africa and Portugal including the Azores, the Canary Islands and the Cape Verde offer good, year round sailing conditions in some of the world’s most unspoilt and interesting cruising grounds.

Holidaying in this part of the world just four hours or so from the UK also makes sense for those who can’t face being cramped up on a plane for hours on end to places like the Caribbean, particularly in these uncertain times with covid 19 restrictions in place. Another plus point for those who suffer the effects of long-haul flights, is the fact that these islands are on the same time zone as the UK.
