The key to Nelson Mandela's Robben Island prison cell is returning to South Africa
New York auction house Guernsey's has postponed the sale of some of the South African leader's belongings, including the key to his cell and the shirt he wore when he was released from Robben Island.
Plans to auction off the key that kept Nelson Mandela, the former president of South Africa and legendary anti-apartheid activist, behind bars are off.
The auction house, New York City-based Guernsey's, planned to hold an auction of items belonging to Mandela â including theexpected tobegin at $250,000.
