Adjust the heating

According to the Energy Saving Trust, turning the main thermostat down by just one degree can save around 10 per cent on your bill – and you won’t even notice the difference. Turn the heating off at night and when no one’s home, and fit room thermostats so you’re not wasting energy on warming areas that aren’t being used regularly during the day.

Make your radiators more efficient

‘Ensure that radiators are bled regularly, and that there’s no furniture in front of them that could be absorbing heat. If they are on external walls, consider lining
