Consider the Kill

A few months ago at the ICAST Show in Florida, the HAWAII FISHING NEWS crew met Andrew Tsui. We instantly connected with Andrew because of his Hawai‘i roots and the unique company he was representing: The Ike Jime Federation. This company manufactures and sells tools designed for fishermen to kill fish in accordance with the Japanese ike jime method, and the products were somewhat strange at this fishing trade show. As Andrew put it, The Ike Jime Federation produces “a collection of application-specific tools for a ‘considered kill,’ which improves the value proposition of all fish in the water column.”

We were eager to learn more about his company and these unique tools that include a brain spike and a curious wire designed to destroy a fish’s spinal cord. We think the availability of these tools will change the future of fishing for the better.
