Seasonal affective disorder is a type of depression that follows a seasonal pattern and tends to recur year after year. In the UK and other countries located north of the equator, depressive symptoms often develop in the autumn months (between September and November) and linger until spring, finally lifting in March or April. Putting a dampener on our New Year plans, symptoms sadly tend to be most severe at this time of year when daylight hours are at their shortest.
