VHF PLUS
Well, why not? My ICOM 7700 features diversity receive — the ability to use two antennas simultaneously to receive a signal and pick the best one — and I use this feature on high frequency (HF) to support either a Beverage on-ground or a receive loop, hoping to tease out more signals, especially from the lower bands.
For years, I successfully operated on 6-meter, 2-meter, and 70-centimeter SSB using stacked loops for each band, mostly from 10 to 50 watts output, from various radios. I was able to work a lot of stations, and even made ARRL’s VUCC on) season starts in earnest, I’m going to place a loop about one wavelength above the ground, and separated from my beams, to use as a receive-only antenna. I will then be able to do some testing when the band is open and record my findings. We will see what my efforts show when I compile the results.
