KNITTING INSTRUCTIONS

01 Coat with structural pattern

Sizes: 36-40 (42-46)

Finished measurements: Bust circumference: 112 (120) cm Length: 90 (90) cm

Inner sleeve length: 47 (47) cm

Material: Lana Grossa, Nuvoletta.

Content: 42 % baby alpaca, 42 % extrafine merino wool, 16 % polyamide.

50 g = 250 m.

6 (7) balls – col 11 mustard

Knitting needles: Size 4 and 4½ mm.

Circular needle size 4½ mm (100 cm)

Tension:

18,5 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm in main patt on size 4½ mm needles.

When only one figure is given, it applies to both sizes.

Selvage stitches: On every row: SI first st kwise, k last st.

Rib patt: K1, p1.

St st: K on RS, p on WS.

Main patt: Work according to chart Numbers at right edge of chart. indicate RS rows, numbers at left edge of chart indicate WS rows. Work to patt rep, work 2 sts between arrows for patt rep, work to end of chart.

Rep rows 1 – 8 for main patt.

Before you begin

Make a tension swatch. Use the recommended needles, yarns and pattern stitch for your tension swatch. It should measure approx. 12 cm x 12 cm. Cast-on and bind-off rows, as well as selvage stitches should not be included in the measurement. Pin your swatch and block it as you would the finished pieces of the garment. Count stitches and rows over 10 cm. If your tension swatch is too small, switch to larger needles. If your tension swatch is too big, switch to smaller needles.

Back

Cast on 107 (113) sts using 4mm needles.

Knit 1 WS row.

Change to 4½mm needles.

Work in main patt according to chart for 158 (154) rows and piece meas 66 (64) cm from cast-on. Place marker in first and last st on last WS row to indicate beg of armholes.

Cont in main patt for 44 (48) rows and piece meas 18 (20) cm from armhole markers.

Divide work at center for back center slit: Next row (RS): Bind off center st.

Working each side separately, shape shoulders as foll: At each shoulder edge bind off 8 sts 5 (7) times, 7 (0) sts 1 time, 6 (0) sts 1 time. No sts rem.

Left front

Cast on 53 (57) sts using 4mm needles.

Knit 1 WS row.

Change to 4½mm needles.

Work in main patt according to chart for 158 (154) rows and piece meas 66 (64) cm from cast-on. Place marker in last st on last WS row to indicate beg of armhole. Cont in main patt for 44 (48) rows and piece meas 18 (20) cm from armhole markers.

Shape shoulder: At beg of RS rows, bind off 8 sts 5 times, 7 sts 1 time, 6 sts 1 time (8 sts 6 times, 9 sts 1 time). No sts rem.

Right front

Work same as left front, reversing all shaping.

Sleeves

Cast on 45 (51) sts 4 mm needles. Knit 1 WS row.

Change to 4½mm needles.

Work in main patt according to chart and shape sleeve as foll: Inc 1 st at each end of 9th row, then every 10th row 5 times, then every 8th row 6 times = 69 (75) sts.

Work increased sts into main patt. Cont in main patt until piece meas 47 cm from cast-on.

Bind off all sts.

Finishing

Pin pieces to measurements and block. Sew shoulder seams.

Right front band: With 4mm circular needle and RS facing, pick up and k 162 sts evenly along right front edge and right back slit edge. Beg and end with a WS row, work in St st for 5 rows.

Bind off all sts.

Left front band: With 4mm circular needle and RS facing, pick up and k 162 sts evenly along left back slit edge and left front edge. Work same as right front band. Sew short edges of bands tog at center of back slit. Sew on sleeves between markers. Sew side and sleeve seams.

Belt

Cast on 11 sts using 4mm needles. Working first and last st as selvage sts, work in rib patt for 190 cm.

Cast off all sts in rib.

Tension:

Pattern I, 4½mm needles: 17 sts = 10 cm wide. 32 rows = 10 cm long.

Pattern I: 4½mm needles: half brioche rib, odd no. of sts:

Row 1, RS: 1 edge st, *p1, k1*, rep from * to *, ending with p1, 1 edge st.

Rows 2 + 4, WS: 1 edge st, *k1, p1*, rep from * to *, ending with k1, 1 edge st.

Row 3: 1 edge st, *p1, k1 below*, rep from * to *, ending with p1, 1 edge st.

Knit rows 1– 4 once, then repeat rows 3 + 4.

Slip the edge st at the beginning of each row, knit the edge st at the end of the row.

Pattern II: 4½ mm needles: diagonal to the left over 24 sts (to begin with): according to chart. The chart shows 1 RS row and the foll WS row, with 8 rows of pattern I being worked in between. Knit rows 1 – 52 once.

Pattern III: 4½ mm needles: diagonal to the right over 24 sts (to begin with): according to chart. The chart shows 1 RS row and the foll WS row, with 8 rows of pattern I worked in between. Knit rows 1– 52 once.

Pattern IV: 4 mm needles: stocking st in the round = k all sts.

4 mm needles: *p1, k1*, rep from * to *. On subsequent rnd knit the sts as they appear (= p1, k1).
