Sony’s tagline for the A7 IV is ‘beyond basic’ and you only need to cast your eyes over the specification list to see that it’s far more than an entry-level full-frame camera. Designed as the all-rounder in the Sony A7 series, the IV seems to be a more affordable and scaled-back version of the A1.

Inside the A7 IV is a 33MP back-illuminated Exmoor R CMOS sensor – that’s a significant step up from the 24MP sensor in the A7 III. While Sony hasn’t opted to use a stacked CMOS design as it did in the A1, the new camera has the same Bionz XR processing
