here are some machines that were destined for war service. One such example was a 1918 Motor Rail and Tramcar Company’s Simplex ‘protected’ locomotive that is fitted with a Dorman 4JO petrol engine. It never saw active service though, being stored at Purfleet Wharf in Essex before being sold in 1919. It ended up with Leeds Corporation’s Knostrop Sewage Works where it remained until 1981 and was displayed at Armley Mills Museum before passing to the
