Crowded Capricorn
Capricorn…I assume you’ve heard that word before? Yes? Can we have a show of hands? Good. Most of you, though I hear a question from the audience. For those of you who didn’t hear the question, let me repeat it: “Why mention Capricorn when the Capricorn time of year ended on January 19?” Good point, as the Sun is currently in Aquarius and headed for Pisces, while Saturn is in Aquarius for all of 2022. So do I start the column with Capricorn just to seem difficult? Nope.
The fact is that the sign of Capricorn is unusually crowded this month. Let’s review recent movements of Mercury and Venus to see the main reason: A glance at your ephemeris will reveal that both of these planets have recently spent some time in retrograde motion. Mercury continues with that movement until February 3, making his direct station, a few days after Venus does so on January 29.
When each of these planets is going through a retrograde phase, it will form a conjunction with the Sun. Before that conjunction, the planet will be positioned of the Sun in the zodiac, and after the conjunction it will be placed the Sun in the zodiac. Venus was in Capricorn during her entire
