GOING ALL OUT FOR… BONUS POINTS

THOSE WHO NOW ME WOULD agree I’m fairly competitive when it comes to fishing. It is not a childhood trait but is just part of me, whether I want it or not. The advantage is it pushes me to persevere and get results, some of the time.

This got me interested in a year-long kayak fishing competition taking place from January 2021 to January 2022. I managed to catch nine of the 10 species on the list and just needed a pollack to finish off my slam.

Basically it works like this: You catch the fish on the species list, measure it and send off image and log to the organisers. You can boost your score at any point in the year by improving the size of a fish you have already caught or just catching the species you are yet to catch. For example, if I caught a bass of 45cm, then the week after I get one of 55cm, then 55cm will be my bass score. All scores from the different fish are added up to give you a final score. Catch
