Christmas is coming and the goose is not the only one getting fat. The colder weather, crud-covered roads and spring events seeming aeons away, mean it’s all too easy to hurl oneself into festive overindulgence a little too hastily. Yes, of course all of us should take some time out over the next couple of weeks, putting fitness and form to the back of our minds, to enjoy the festivities with family and friends – God knows we need it after the Covid-19 write-off of last year. But that needn’t mean piling on pounds or letting watts leach away. You can have your Christmas cake and eat it. Let us explain.

You can do better than merely survive Christmas; you can get your merry fill of all the culinary and social delights while also capitalising on the break from work to get in some highly enjoyable and effective training. Joyous times all round and not a watt lost off your FTP. If that sounds too good to be true, then you’d better read on – because we have, with a little help from a few expert friends, put together!
