That’s right, the country that has been largely closed to international arrivals throughout the pandemic came out on top at this year’s WanderlustTravel Awards. Australia was crowned our readers’ Most Desirable Country (Long Haul) for 2021.

On 2 November, hundreds of the world’s foremost travel leaders, writers and celebrities headed to London’s Kensington Palace for the 20th Travel Awards, hosted by the BAFTA award-winning travel legend, Steve Backshall. This year, presented a mix of reader, guide and industry awards, putting a spotlight on the industry’s stars who have kept shining during this turbulent time for travel.
