DOGGED DETERMINATION
was born in Alexandria, Scotland, and immigrated to Canada in 1981 when I was 15 months old. My parents used to drive Minis back home in Scotland so, when I was young, our family car was an Austin Mini. Back in those days it was relatively easy to find Minis in Canada, as they had been sold here until 1980, so we owned quite a few as I was growing up. My father was fond of them because, as someone who used to work on cars quite a bit, he knew them, how to fix them and liked the fact that they were British-made. When I was 15 years old my father taught me how to drive, in a mall parking lot, in a Mini. I was hooked. My dream since then was one day to be the proud owner of my very own Mini.
