MALCOLM DOME 1955-2021

IN 1981, TWO young British music journalists, Malcolm Dome and Brian Harrigan, published a book titled Encyclopedia Metallica, a slim but definitive account of a genre that had first emerged just over a decade earlier. A few months later, a young Danish–born NWOBHM aficionado and aspiring drummer launched a band whose name mirrored the second half of the book’s title. The drummer was Lars Ulrich and the band were Metallica.

Lars has never confirmed whether he borrowed the name from the book,
