It is now 70 years since Vauxhall Motors released a light commercial in the UK, which would quickly establish itself (in the hands of Martin Walter Ltd/Dormobile) as the British answer to Germany’s Volkswagen Westfalia ‘camping box’.

The Bedford CA was given the versatility treatment by the Martin Walter designers at Folkestone, as it installed seating in the rear, which quickly converted into a bed.
