While most of us settle for hanging a few decorations on a tree at Christmas, Emma Manners, the Duchess of Rutland and chatelaine of Belvoir Castle, has transformed her home into a winter wonderland.
Towering trees dripping in a 5ft-wide kissing bough with mistletoe hangs from a high-vaulted ceiling; the many staircases are festooned with garlands and a dining table set for 30 is decorated with an extravagant tableau of birdcages, bronze monkeys and ceramic fruit.
“It’s such an exotic castle – it comes to life with drama,” the Duchess tells HELLO! at our exclusive shoot and interview. The gardens have also been decked out in fairy-light tunnels, giant mirror balls and dancing fountains for visitors to discover after dusk.
