The Grand National Cross Country series in the US is a huge deal. Regarded as the biggest and most prestigious cross-country series in the world, GNCC attracts the best riders and the competition is tough.
The tracks are nasty and rough, covering terrain with just about everything including tree roots, hills, rocks, clay, mud, sand, open paddocks and even sections of motocross tracks now and again. The races are brutal because riders go ’bar-to-’bar, flat-out for three -hours, stopping only to take on fuel.
