Q&A Glen Janetzki

We dedicate much time in these pages talking about elite riders, but not everyone races to win. Here, we chat to Glen Janetzki – who will take on the role of Lanterne Rouge at the next Peaks Challenge on 13 March 2022 – about what it’s like to bring up the tail of the ride and support those riders who are simply looking to finish.

Cyclist: G’day Glen. Firstly, could you tell us what the Lanterne Rouge is at the Peaks Challenge and why it is required?

The Lanterne Rouge is the last-placed rider on the road at Peaks Challenge, tackling the course at a 13-hour pace. In 2022, taking on the role will be Ben Gove from NSW, who rode with us in 2021; Sam Butcher, a very experienced rider from Melbourne; and myself, also and assisting them in pacing so they have time to grab a bite to eat, fill bottles and get going again.
