CALLING FOR A BEHAVIORAL CHANGE IN RESPONSE TO THE CLIMATE CRISIS: ‘POSTERIORITY’
The exhibition Posteriority has been on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan (MoCA Busan) from Oct. 29. This exhibition was (2017), an installation work depicting the battle for survival between humans and jellyfish. John Akomfrah unveiled (2017), a video work that combines ecological disaster sites filmed in ten countries, and tells the story of plastics emitted from everyday life and how they eventually lead to a rise in sea levels. Chang Hannah shows (2021), an installation work that collects waste plastic that has turned into rocks by weathering. Chang refers to the situation in which objects lose their original form and purpose and assimilate into nature as another ecosystem. Kim Ayoung established an underwater laboratory in the virtual reality work (2021) to conduct simulations on carbon credits and sustainable energy. Kim Seongyeon (director, MoCA Busan) explained, ‘This year, we hold an exhibition focusing on environmental issues caused by climate change, and we intend to deliver practical messages in response to our Anthropocene era through virtual reality content and a theatre programme’. The exhibition is held until Mar. 1, 2022.
