BUILDING CONTROL AND YOU

Building Control, surveyors, inspectors… No matter how you refer to them, they are the ones in charge of inspecting your build and making sure it complies with the latest Building Regulations. They sign everything off and issue you a completion certificate at the end of the job. Without this certificate, a property can prove extremely difficult to sell.

When carrying out any amount of building work, it is worth checking whether you need Building Control to be involved. If you do, there are two options open to you: you can either use your local authority’s Building Control team or bring in a private approved inspector for the job. I will go into these in more detail later.
