Let it snow

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Follow a wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry process

Practise colour mixing

Add snow effects at the end

Snow globes are so much fun to paint. They are a perfect one-session, morning or afternoon project. They also make wonderful gifts and are ideal for the person who already has everything, as you can easily tailor them to the recipient’s interests. Snow globes are also a great exercise in painting light on dark and dark on light and are suitable for beginners and more confident students.

A note on materials

I like the Canson watercolour pads, with 300gsm NOT (Cold-Pressed) paper. The pads I buy are 22.9x30.5cm.

I used a set of 36 Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours (available on Amazon). This is a great selection of colours at a very reasonable price – or use your own watercolours. I used the following colours: lavender blue, cobalt
