MODEL CORNER FORD 5CWT SIDEVALVE VANS

In 1932 Ford Model Y production began at Dagenham. The first vans had running boards, but no rear door windows or driver’s door - the spare wheel was mounted where the driver’s door would have been. From June 1933, a driver’s door was fitted with the spare wheel mounted on it and running boards were discontinued.

Early versions, the “short-rad Model Y” had a straight front bumper. From November 1933 a deeper grille was fitted (the “long-rad Model Y”) and the (then optional) front bumper had a centre dip. From 1935 rear door windows were fitted.

The Model Y was replaced in November 1937 by the Ford Model 7Y
