Gerhardus Josua and Aletta van Niekerk

Lion’s Den Butchery

The man with the big beard and his wife are retired; they’ve lived in Kampersrus for four years. They moved here from Lydenburg, where Aletta was born. Gerhardus used to be the regional manager for Shoprite and had to travel almost 450 km every day.

“We prayed and asked for a place where we didn’t have to drive far.” Gerhardus laughs. “Then we bought this old house with the butchery next door. Now, travelling from home to work takes about two steps!
