NOT QUITE REACHING ITS FULL POTENTIAL

When I was idly browsing through the Copart salvage website last week, there in amongst the really old stuff were not one, but two 2.9-litre XJ40s. One was so incredibly rusty it looked as though it had been in a river for a few years. It was a metallic red 1989 base model with the tweed trim and whilst it was completely knackered, it took me back.

I’d been
