HERE WE SOW, NEW SEEDS FOR A NEW SEASON!

As ever, there are plenty of new varieties to whet our sowing appetites, some totally new, others new to a particular seed supplier, useful if you have a favourite seed company you return to each year.

BRASSICA FANTASTICA

There are tasty broccoli spears aplenty this year. First off there’s Suttons’ British-bred ‘Summer Purple’ with its dark-headed florets. This is a high-yielding variety for both summer and autumn cropping. Or how about Dobies’ ‘Santee F1’, a quick grower and promising a continuous crop for almost six months? Otherwise, there’s ‘Cardinal’ from Mr Fothergill’s, producing medium-large purple spears for later harvesting.
