MASSEY FERGUSON 3000 SERIES

Back in 1986. the farm tractor was a very different beast from the machines we know today. Electronic control systems were just starting to appear, most often as part of monitoring and display systems although. At that stage, though, they were still playing a pretty minor role in the overall scheme of things, and remained very much an add-on type of feature.

However, Massey Ferguson had begun to take electronics and the tractor in a different direction by introducing a form of electronic rear linkage control on the large 4000 Series articulated tractors. The company followed this with a more advanced electronic linkage system on the 2005 Series, introduced in 1985.

This, however, was only the beginning, as Massey Ferguson had much bigger plans for the use of electronics in a new range of tractors that were already well advanced when the 2005 Series arrived. These models were set to change the way tractors would be used forever, and lead to the creation of the sophisticated machines we see now in the 21st century.

Range replacement

Massey Ferguson had its sights set firmly on the lucrative, mid-range sector of the marketplace which, at that time, was occupied by the Massey Ferguson 600 and 200 Series machines. The 200 range was also in the middle of a
