Why?
Peaceful solitude in spectacular scenery, and just perfect for keen cyclists
We rumbled past stacks of trees piled high like matchsticks, the track deteriorating into a quagmire, reducing our speed to little more than walking pace as we fought to keep our pedals turning.
I glanced over at Mum, half expecting to see a look of disapproval, but instead she wore a smile as wide as the loch we passed moments before.
This might not have been the trip she imagined when I told her we were off to Scotland for her birthday – or perhaps it was, given my recent history of present buying – but she was clearly revelling in the adventure.
