SEA LEAGUE FINAL FELIXSTOWE, SUFFOLK OCTOBER 23

AS WHITING SHOWED UP IN LARGE numbers in what will be remembered as a very competitive Penn Sea League Final, those anglers who could catch the bonus fish were bound to dominate. So it proved with thornback rays, a few dogfish and even a codling making all the difference.

The match, held at Felixstowe in Suffolk, attracted 39 of the nation’s top anglers to fish the town’s shingle and sand beaches down towards the River Orwell and in the shadow of the town’s massive container terminal. Covid had forced the cancellation of the final in 2020, so those taking part had been the leading anglers in both the 2019 and 2020 Penn Sea League.
