THE ALL ENGLAND CODLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Whitby to Bridlington, Yorks, 120 anglers

Mark Thomas caught seven codling from his local ground at Jackson’s Bay and Scarborough pier to finish with a winning 11-0-0 in this popular roving event during the final weekend of the annual Scarborough Angling Festival.

Second, in what was a codling only match, was Geordie visitor Steve Williams, of Jarrow, with 8-6-0, followed by Andy Clyde with 7-11-0. Of the 120 entrants, 49 weighed in.

The heaviest codling was 5-11-6, caught by Chris Sciafe, of Filey, who was fourth with 7-2-14.
