THEORY OF EVOLUTWION

Covid cares not for your plans. Plans that included a few days of sporty touring on a V-twin, two triples and a V4 in a bid to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. But thanks to that bastard Covid, the government’s restrictions had other ideas. So instead of meeting and riding hundreds of kays together and arguing the delights and disappointments of said bikes from either end of a pub’s pool table, each rider was left to ride the wheels off their respective machine alone.

What it allowed us to do that a standard test otherwise wouldn’t, was cover more kays over more days, across more varied situations and in different conditions. From commuting, scratching, day rides, night riding, errand running – all things very much relevant to sports-tourer ownership.

Then, when restrictions around gatherings eased and on the back of a bunch of warm and sunny days, we met for a ride up the Old Pacific Highway,
