The Ancient Greek satirist and writer, Lucian of Samosata, published hundreds of works during his lifetime from 125—or in English, . Only 334 lines long, it takes the literal meaning of gout as ‘foot trap’ and depicts the comic horrors of the disease, cast upon the protagonist by the Goddess of Gout herself. It’s an allegory of power, pain, absurdity, morbid laughter and madness—and it’s the starting point of Eric Demetriou’s latest exhibition .
