I’ve solved a few of my problems but one of my biggest ones is my illegitimate grandfather’s father.
His mother Emma Ridgway was a domestic servant in Hyde Road Barracks, Gorton, Manchester, Lancashire. She was ‘got at’ by a soldier and my grandad George Foulkes Ridgway was born in the barracks on 8 June 1890. The man wouldn’t marry her but she gave Grandad the middle name Foulkes so he would always know his father’s name.
Through my DNA I’ve found a lovely lady named Nancy who’s given me access to her tree but I don’t know where to go from here. I would be so grateful for any help. I've only tested with Ancestry but I have uploaded to Gedmatch and I just don’t get that at all. The other night I uploaded my DNA to MyHeritage but I don’t think it’s working yet.
