Between the worlds
»I had to put my ego to the side. «

Beat / How did it come about that you got together again?
Chris / I think we both had to live our own lives a bit after the band broke up. So everyone did their own separate creative things. I wanted to indulge my personal project IAMX and Liam really wanted to produce other artists and explore his studio life. He also started a family. We became quite different, not only musically, but also in our lifestyles. It took about 15 years until we started to reconnect. The major turning point for both of us was that we both had a breakdown or burnout, and we were both diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I met with him in my darkest period, and talking about this topic bonded us. It was the first time we talked about these things on the surface that had been subtly present in our music for a long time. We have always been deeply connected creatively, but not on a private level. Once we had cleared the air, we realized we had a lot in common to write about. But then it took another couple of years to get it done on a practical level.
