Just cause

Who doesn’t want to do something to improve the health of the planet? Picking litter from a beach, planting a tree or making sure household waste goes in the proper recycling bin floats most boats.

But some environmental ‘causes’ are more popular than others. We invariably pick and choose those that sit best with our lifestyles, largely ignoring the rest. Examples aren’t hard to find: youngsters demand adults save the world, yet many don’t want to walk to school. Mum drives them, which creates more of the pollution that threatens their blighted future. And all are addicted to ecodamaging smartphones and computers.
