RESTRUCTURING SORSOGON
Politics is an animal of a career that needs the leash of smarts, kindness, and patience tied exceptionally well to a well-controlled hand.
For the governor of Sorsogon, Francis Joseph “Chiz” Guevarra Escudero, the skills of being patient tied with the ability to forgive but not forget have become especially strong traits that best helped his political career. These traits are just some of the few that he strongly believes a good leader must carry. As expected, smarts, kindness, and patience shouldn’t transform into a slacking reel. Unfortunately, some leaders are plagued with this weakness.
“They give too much slack to their friends and relatives. They give them special favors given their position in the government or in society.” Escudero says, “Every leader must be able to treat everyone equally and in a similar manner regardless of how they are related to them, or whether or not they know them or they are close to them. That is the weakness of most of our leaders which is not present in my case.”
