Happy predictions of a good La Niña rainy season (October 2020 to May 2021) in South Africa are a wonderful way to kick off the fast-approaching new year. Having already experienced the joys of good rains in the Waterberg and seeing water in dams that have been dry for almost four years, have greatly lifted my spirits and those of my fellow farmers. La Niña unfortunately has the opposite effect (drought) for some of our fellow African countries in central and eastern Africa.
